Resumé
| Mitigating the pace and subsequently halting climate change is the biggest challenge facing the world’s population, which is expected to reach almost 9 billion people by 2030. The coverage of their consumer demand creates unprecedented pressure on natural resources. Efforts to achieve carbon neutrality could contribute to cope up with the current environmental crisis. A key role in the decarbonisation process has been referred to automotive industry. The main aim of the presented article is to analyse the latest trends in this sector in EU, particular in Slovakia, with a special focus on the development of cars using new fuels and their contribution to achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Methods of statistical description and analysis of data from relevant sources and databases are used. Based on the analysis the most important driving forces and also limits on the way to decarbonisation of automotive industry are described.. |
